About Emma Grace
Emma Grace was born 15 weeks premature on August 27, 2005. She weighed 1lb. 12oz. and was 12.5” long. She changed our lives forever. It’s amazing how these tiny ones do that!
Much to everyone’s surprise Emma was born breathing on her own. She did surprisingly well and we had every reason to believe that she would become our little miracle and that she would grow to be strong and healthy like her big sister. However, at our nighttime visit to the NICU on September 9, 2005, we found Emma very sick. It was determined that she had a severe intestinal infection called necrotizing enterocolitis, NEC for short, that often strikes preemies. Emma earned her angel wings the following morning at 2 weeks of age nearly to the minute.
